Am I just seeing things or is every movie this year a sequel of some sort?

Just off the top of my head there's going to be Blade 2, Austin Powers 3, the second installment of LOTR, another Bond movie, another Star Trek movie, the second Harry Potter and there's more I just can't think of.

Lets at least hope their all good. Personally I can't wait for the second LOTR, Bond and Nemesis.

See? There you go. That's a prequel! Seriously though, you're right. Let's also not forget The Matrix 2.

I believe The Matrix 2 is being delayed until 2003.[IMG]

I must agree that this looks to be a good movie year for me. Too bad about Matrix 2.

I don't mind sequels at all. In fact I like well done series of movies (trilogies or whatever), because you often get more backstory, character development etc.

Track record for "2"s in the last twenty some years has been amazingly good. Many consider Empire Strikes Back as the best of the first trilogy set, similarly, many consider Godfather II as the best of all Godfathers and Aliens as well as T2 as the tops of their respective series. I've only see the first Back to The Future, and atually am not familiar with the series, can't comment on that one.

Toy Story 2 and Rush Hour 2 were also better. But to be fair many "2" movies have also been a decline from the original. The Arrival 2, Scream 2, Die Hard 2 (though still a great movie), Batman 2, TMNT 2, Jaws 2. But this years crop looks to be a very good one. I may be at the movies more this year than any other. Dan, I'll have to disagree with you on Batman Returns. I felt it was overall a more polished movie than the first. (That is, if you can ignore the penguins carrying DeVito into the water. That was just awful.) Also, it had Burton exploring more of "his" style, and that is a good thing to me.

Lets not forget the great Star Trek 2:Wrath of Khan. That was one excellent sequel.

Well, at least we'll know most of the characters coming in the movies this year and we know some stars are really lining their pockets with moola.
