directv is running a deal for existing customers on the hd tivo for $299 plus a $100 rebate ($200 net). I don't think any new customers can get the deal and usually have to pay $500 plus the $100 rebate. Check out the hd forum at www.tivocommunity.com. You can find out there whether anyone has had any luck getting the deal either as a new customer, or by signing up, waiting a bit, then trying to get the hd tivo deal as an existing customer.
