Sorry dude...plus the problems with Amtrack is that Congress never passes its operating budget unless certian senators get a pork barrel project put through...this is why you have empty Amtrack trains running from Pierre, North Dakota to Wicheta, Kansas...
In order for Amtrack to make money it should simply run
1)Northeast Corridor...Amtracks top 5 stations for passenger volume; Penn Station, NY, Newark, NJ, Philidelphia, Penn, Washington, D.C., Boston, Mass...notice a trend?
2) California Costal
3) Chi to Stl to a connection with the Northeast Corridor.
4) One east-west cross country line with an exclusive deal with a Greyhound type bus operator to provide transfers North and South.
