The most amazing 12th hour production reversal on a film in recent history - many more people will now have heard of the film and be interested in watching it, than before the casting switch. Obviously, the ultimate home video version would seamlessly branch both the Kevin Spacey and the Christopher Plummer versions on it, with lots of supplements showing how they accomplished the reshoots and digitally replaced Spacey, as well as a candid Ridley Scott commentary, explaining how he initially wanted Christopher Plummer, was forced to go with Spacey by the studio suits, then spent $10 million of his own cash digitally replacing Spacey with Plummer in four days and STILL making the planned premiere date. But that will probably never happen and I'd be surprised if it will even be mentioned when this comes out on home video. It's not without precedent that films get major reshoots so late in production - Woody Allen reshot the whole of September with a different cast, after principal photography was initially completed. However, Woody Allen never does commentaries or supplements and Ridley Scott does.
