Hi,
I'm helping a friend build his first HT. We are looking for speakers to consider, besides the Infinity Interlude series, which I have. He wants to stay in the same price range as the Interludes, which is about 2100 dollars for all five channels and a sub(10 inch). His reciever choice is the Onkyo 787 or 797(when it comes out), so the speakers sound at least handle 150 watts@8ohms. Looking forward to everyones opinon, also please indicate the type of reciever you listened to the speakers with, we want to recreate the same combination when go to listen to your suggestions. Thanks
Shawn

For under $2K, I don't think you can beat Atlantic Technologies 350THX. These are very similar to AT 370THX, but can only be brought off the internet. Seewww.onecall.com , and also do a search and get some reviews. They come with options for stands and multiple subs.

Do a search on Ebay for PSB or Paradigm and you'll come across this CandaHifi guy. He offers great prices to Americans for PSB and Paradigm products and has an excellent rating on EBay. Should be able to get a great PSB Image or Paradigm Monitor Series system from him for $2100 USD. PSB 5T ot 2B for mains, 2B for surrounds and 9C for center. Paradigm would be the Monitor 7 or 5 for mains, MiniMonitors for surrounds and CC370 for center. Then get either a PSB Subsonic6, Paradigm PW2200 or maybe even an SVS PC.
Although, if you can swing a trip to Canada, $2100 USD is almost enough to step up to the Paradigm Reference Studio series.

Yep the ATs enjoy a good reputation, there are several owners on this forum. Great value at the price point.

I had no idea that the AT350 THX sold for only about 2200 (one sub)! As soon as we find a dealer, we're on the road to get a demo! With the 787 only having one pre out for a sub, how would you connect the other sub?

I agree with Jeremy a bit... I would defintely take a look into an SVS sub, I'd go powered myself.
As far as speakers go, audition as many as you can and take your pick. You are in a good price range to pick up a great system. I don't like B&W in the least bit, they are to fatigueing for my ears. That's why I went with Energy. Other people love B&W...
In my opinion, I'd get the SVS and listen to as many speakers as possible before you make a judgment call. I'd still listen to the B&W, Energy, Mirage, JM Lab, Paradigm, Def Tech and Snell (if you can find them) before making a call.
I have Energy C-6 fronts and have been in debate if I'm going to get a set pf Paradigm Monitor (somethings) for my next set.
Speakers are all a personal preference

You can use a Y adapter or some subs have a sub out so you can daisy chain or stack em if that suits your needs.

Five ACI Emeralds ($1,600) and a HSU VTF-2 ($500)
nOrh 4.0 package ($850) and dual SVS 20-39CS w/amp ($1,289) - puts you $40 over budget but a fantastic combination (I have it!

)
Swan Diva 5.1SE ($1,650) and Audio Adire Rava ($400)

I'll second Jeremy's recommendation of the B&W 600 Series. One suggestion, though. If you can swing enough of a discount, look into the LCR6 instead of the CC6 for the center speaker. The cost difference is about $120, but you may still stay within your budget, depending on what type of discount you receive.

Here is what I have that lists for just around $2000 -- Paradigm Monitor 7's for mains, CC-370 for center, Mini-Monitors for surround and PW-2200 sub. Give this combination a listen.
