Yeah, I don't get it either, unless, they want to give the 4K/UHD disc an advantage which is what I think the industry as a whole is doing here.

Yes! This was one of my favorite films released this year. I'm a huge fan of the manga and Cameron and Rodriguez really did justice to the source material. Plus, the film was shot with 3D in mind and it absolutely makes a difference. If all 3D releases had as much thought put into the process as Alita, Avatar, and Hugo did, I firmly believe that 3D wouldn't be slowly dying in theaters. I'm pre-ordering the heck out of this.

In case anyone missed this little tidbit, Alita: Battle Angel will be Fox's very first 4K UHD release with Dolby Vision.

This should sell well now that the 6 people who want the 4K version, and the other 6 people who want the Dolby Vision version and the other 6 people who want 3D (the other 5 plus me) version are combined!

Ok, I noticed in the specifications for this 3D/4K set on Amazon.com, that it is saying “1 disc”. I know Amazon is notoriously wrong, but I contacted customer service for a chat and at least 5 different people from Sri Lanka said it only has one disc.

They only would read directly from the web site. They would not use the link to HTF I provided. The last one suggested I get the order and send it back if it is not what I want, which is what I decided to do.

It is impossible, isn’t it, for this set to be 4K and 3D and to be one disc? I’m not going to cancel my UK order yet.

Amazon is simply wrong, as usual.

I'm fine with Dolby Vision, but I would feel differently if my equipment supported HDR10+.

This practice started a year or two ago and seems specifically meant to push people to upgrade to UHD. It's a nuisance to me as Atmos is basically unavailable on blu-ray now.

Doubly so, as UHD projectors don't support DV yet.

    Yes it's impossible

Yes Amazon is wrong like usual

No, the CSR aren't going to do anything other than read off the website like you can do whether they are in UK. US, Sri Lanka, Phillipines or India. They don;t have any more information on an individual product and likely wouldn't be able to tell you even if they did. I not sure why CSR would be able to tell folks about Digital copies, Region Coding, Audio codecs, slipcovers, etc especially on an item that won't release for 2 months -- it's not like there is a supervisor who can run/call down to the warehouse to open a package to check it out.

That's a major overstatement. There are many BDs with Atmos coming out these days!

Really? The few movies I’ve bought the past two years have almost exclusively moved Atmos to the UHD disc, and not on the HD disc. As a quick check, the upcoming “Captain Marvel” is Dolby Atmos only on the 4K disc. The blu-ray is DTS 7.1.

I looked at 2018/2019 movies I've recently reviewed that have Atmos 4Ks:

    -"Cold Pursuit": Atmos on BD
-"How to Train Your Dragon 3": Atmos on BD
-"Lego Movie 2": Atmos on BD
-"Mary Poppins Returns": no Atmos on BD
    -"Aquaman": Atmos on BD
    -"Bumblebee": Atmos on BD
-"Ralph Breaks the Internet": no Atmos on BD
-"Kid Who Would Be King": no Atmos on BD
    -"Glass": Atmos on BD
    -"Spider-Verse": no Atmos on BD

So that's 10 titles, 6 of which offer Atmos on the BDs.

Yes, it'd be better if it was 10/10, but 6/10 is still a lot better than the 0/10 you implied! :D

Good to know. Maybe it’s a Disney thing and Sony thing, which are what I’ve bought lately. I just know every time I’ve bought a movie lately, I had to buy the UHD to get the Atmos. :)

Seems inconsistent - there's a Fox title in there, too!

It's definitely a Disney thing but I don't know if the other studios are as consistent about it...
