Does anyone have this new Alienware laptop? Judging from the specs it seems to be pretty nice for a portable gaming computer and computer in general. I would like to know if anyone can tell me anything about the Alienware laptops from personal experiences. Thanks, Eric.

Funny, I take it you don't have one.

I would say get a similar dell for cheaper unless you like the case or something, but it seems like dell has emasculated their inspiron line for some reason. Or I can't figure out how to use their site. But I have a slightly aged one and am pretty pleased with it.

Well, unfortunately now it seems that they've dropped the p4 mobile processors for the pentium M, so it's not worth it. But you can get the Geforce FX go 5650, which is probably about the same as the FX go 5600, which the alienware sports.

Since as far as I can tell you can't get the p4 with dell anymore, I guess I would look for another brand or go with the alienware.

I wonder if the video module will work in my 8200 even though it's nominally for the newer chassis, since the new one still seems to use a version of the video modules that were available in my system.

I don't know if they are out yet, but I'm also interested in the new HP laptop with the 17" screen. Model zd7000.

It's on their site. It has slower drives than you can get for the alienware, but otherwise has mostly the same options.

A friend of mine was looking at Laptops recently and ended up with the HP which he bought off their site. It has the geforce go chip along with a 3ghz processor. I think his total came in under $1,700 which is cheaper than the Alienware. It has the 17" widescreen display.
