Hopefully this will be the original release version, not the 2003 Director's Cut.

I concur. I watched the 2003 cut once back then and those extra scenes make the movie feel weird. Not really sure how to see it. The theatrical cut was definitely superior.

As part of 2024’s Alien Day return of Sir Ridley Scott’s original Alien to cinema screens in the United States, a “special look at Alien: Romulus featuring a discussion with Alien director Ridley Scott and Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez” will be screened before the movie.

As part of the promotions for their own bookings, Fandango has uploaded a preview of Fede and Scott’s conversation in which they talk about the iconic chestburster scene from the original Alien.

And the room it's showing in here is very small...

A is "floor" as is "B" but there's usually a slight rise on that row (or possibly a step down for the true floor seats). The 2 seats on row "C" (7 & 8) are always sold (every room) but never has anyone seated in them. I've never asked what they are but suspect it's for "sold out late arrivals" or employee monitoring/use. I've not been in this room before so don't know exactly what the black spots for row "D" seat 1&2 are (looks similar for row "A" seat 7&8) - it's not seats but why an empty space? They don't specify the size of the screen but it can't be very large. I picked the seats - they defaulted to 3&4 on row "D" - OK but not the "best." I really think row "E" would be better but without seeing the room...

I think I'd rather just watch it at home with a room that small.

I agree. In a room that small, there's no real advantage over a home theater.

At my usual theater, they're showing it on the second largest screen in the building. Front three rows are floor, others are stadium style.
I think the screen in this room is 50 feet wide.

I'd likely attend if the room was even half the size of your 2nd largest screen.

I checked to see if tickets were sold for tonight's 7:10 and 10:30 showings. Only 2 seats for the 7:10 have been sold so far which seems to imply others feel the same about the room as I do.

The *only* good things in that small room here is *all* seats are recliner style and it's "stadium" style seating. In general, you don't notice anyone around you outside those sitting beside you.

I remember seeing this at the Arclight in Maryland when it was brought back at some point. Advertised as the original theatrical cut, we instead were treated to the director's cut. No thanks. Almost everyone in the theater was online at the box office for a refund after the show.

I plan to see this tomorrow, then this coming Friday The Phantom Menace opens. This is a busy time period for re-releases of older sci-fi.

Did it start on time or were their previews?

For my show, there was twenty minutes of trailers, then the 7 or 8 minute discussion between Ridley Scott and Fede Alvarez and then the movie.
Same here. I asked because I was running late. Great seeing it again on the big screen. It’s been 45 years since I last saw it in a theater.
