Very exciting news! This was my absolute favorite childhood show, and I can't wait to own the seasons on DVD. This show is much funnier/wittier than some people give it credit for. I think it ran for 4 seasons, so hopefully the whole series will be available in about 2 years?
Man, there are lots of great 80s shows coming to DVD...
ALF even makes a joke about Willy's crack habit on the ALF Files commentary track.
Max Wright has been arrested a few times for drunken driving (the most recent being less than a year ago), but I don't think he has ever served time.
A web search shows that you can read the entire article from the National Enquirer at this page (third table) - link Edit: warning, link contains explicit content towards the bottom of the page. You can go to the article, but I don't recommend scrolling further down the page.
This was probably about three or four years ago. His wife said in the article that he was recovering and that they were trying to save their marriage.
I don't know if the tape was made before or after he was on The Norm Show (I think before), but Max Wright has since then appeared on Norm MacDonald's other show, A Minute With Stan Hooper.
I doubt that the DVD will have commentary from him, but hopefully ALF and the show's creators will do more tracks. I loved the one of The ALF Files.
If so, I hope it gets fixed. The commentary abrubtly ends while the creators are talking about their plans for an ALF movie, and there are also a few lines from the commentary that are repeated for some weird reason.
From 1986 to 1990 on NBC. I even remember the day of the week and time it aired. Monday at 7:00 PM Central.
This is easily one of the funniest TV shows of the '80s. It really sucks that NBC never gave it a proper sendoff. There was that 1996 ABC-TV movie "Project: ALF" but it blew wind. Not having the Tanner family really killed it, IMHO. Sure, ALF is the star, but he needs his family.
"Before you get up for that final snack, I want you to know I'll be right back. HA!"
or
"Before you get up for that final snack, I want you to know I've got your cat. HA!"

So so happy about this, 2004 just gets better and better. Was an even bigger surprise for me as it was only a couple of months ago was it not that someone was asked about it in a chat and they said there were no plans for it
