I have a custom made Alan Maher isolation conditioner, featuring a Plitron isolation transformer unit rated at 3.0 kva (30amp), eight hospital grade Hubbel recepticles, and paired with the Alan Maher 20amp 1Meter Silver Snake Power Cord. Unit is brand new, I paid $1000, asking $750 OBO. Football is starting and I have upgraditis already.

I agree with Jeffrey (as well I should since I introduced him to Alan). These conditioners are awesome. Visit AVS forum for all of Alan's posts. He is someone who does not sell his products. He gives his knowledge away for free, along with DYI alternatives to expensive solutions. But, his products do rock.

I do not know how much of a diff Alan's mods make to an already awesome bpt product, but they surely don't hurt and at this price, it's a bargain.

Out of curiosity what would be the benefit of using it in place of my Panamax 1500?

IMHO, the benefits of power conditioning depend on each individual's house electrical problems/limitations. Alan being a person of high expertise in this area, I trust that if Alan has tweaked/modified a product-it will be better than before. He wouldn't state otherwise. I know Chris at BPT makes great products....but it's still "off the shelf" compared to Alan handselecting parts specific to the needs of each customer, while using the BPT selected transformer and case.

    There is a difference!

The unit does indeed look just like the BPT 2.5 unit, I believe the primary difference being the unit contains a medical grade isolation transformer from Plitron of higher capacity than the balanced power models. The unit is of very high quality construction through and through.
