The kids and I did a bit of window shopping at sams club today. They have a 55" akia rptv for around a grand.First of all,I have never heard of them but if they are any good then the price is certainly right.

Akai used to make good tape decks, especially reel to reel. I had an old cassette deck that was very good for the price. I haven't heard much from them in a long while. I saw that same TV the other day and wondered about it myself. If it's as good as their older stuff, it might be a good deal.

Post anything you find out here, especially if you end up picking one up. I had someone ask me about it this morning. While it's not HD, for the price it might be a decent set for someone on a real tight budget.
