And two of those four 192kHz recordings are plain ol' LPCM.
Does this mean all those new dvd-video players with 192/24 converters can play back this ultra-hi-rez format???
Could discs be made with JUST that format, i.e., the PCM version of an sacd (no graphics or menus to mess with, just stereo music)?
Is sacd going to have some real competition now?
Go here to read about this disc:

Lance, thanks for the information. I thought 24/192 had to be stored via MLP. Guess I was wrong. [IMG]

I just thought of something. :b
Maybe it's supposed to say 96kHz/24bit. Possibly a misprint?

    This is confusing to me.

I always thought that for stereo, DVD-A supported 192/24, but for MC, the max was 96/24.

That said, I thought both of these were MLP formats. If MLP is Lossless, why would there be any need to go with LPCM? It would seem to be a waste of disc space.

Oh well, as long as my universal player doesn't puke when I insert the disc....

BTW, I saw this thread the day AFTER I ordered the OTHER AIX DVD-A sampler for $6.95. Dang. Now I don't even see it listed. Perhaps I was looking at an old page?
