I'd second you on that. The DVDs of her TV-films look no better than the early Poirot DVDs (all taken from videotape masters), and they really need an upgrade. They are beautifully made films, and she is for me the definitive Miss Marple.
I've written to Acorn, they don't really have an answer, remember the Marples are BBC properties and look what's happened with Tinker, Tailor, etc., they were given videotape. I suspect BBC destroyed or will not release the film, so it's a lost cause or not worth getting. There are actual videotape glitches (bent tape) visible on the DVDs.

However, after I bought Series 3 and 4 (in my post office today) using Amazon merchants, not Amazon itself because their price was as of last week list, they're now on sale.
Click the buttons here to see and buy if you're interested, they're really great IMHO! :)

Yes, I just received the review copy of Series 5 in the mail today (comes out in late June) and began watching it. They're the rest of the short story adaptations, and they're SO entertaining.

Great; some episodes look better than others, e.g., Cornish Mystery on Series 2 wasn't attractive at all but I suspect that's the source. But at least ITV has retained the film and gave access to Acorn or did the "restoration" themselves. Keep us posted.
