am planning to start a second set based on tubes. would like to ask your opinion on what speakers would be good. My budget is around $800.

If you can suggest a good tube integrated amp. that would be nice too.

total budget for my second tube system is $2,000

The Triangle Titus is a good bookshelf speaker that sounds very good with tubes and retails for about $500. A good integrated in your price range would be the Consonance M100, it retails for $1600. You could also look for a used integrated on audiogon and you might find a CJ CAV-50 or a Cary SLI-80 which are very good integrateds. Good luck in whatever you choose.

    also

    JM Reynaud Twins

used ProAc Response 1SC or Tablettes

    Loth-X Amaze or BS-1

    Green Mountain Audio Europa's

I am sure there are some others but those are coming to my head right now.

As for integrateds you might want to consider Cayin, they are one of the new Chinese comapanies like Consonance that are getting good word of mouth.

Here are a couple of additional system possibilities:
    Loth-X Amaze

    with

    this 2A3 integrated
    Don Garber's Fi-X

    or

    Loth-X BS-1

with these monoblock amps that have a built-in volume control, so OK if you are only going to use one source
    Sun Audio SV-6L6PE

I list the Loth-X speakers for these systems because of all the potential bookshelf speakers, Loth-X makes some of the most sensitive speakers and each of the above amps are low wattage

I second the recommendation for used used ProAc Response 1SC's. Used, Jolida, Aronov, Golden Tube Audio SI50 (although their SE-40 amp wasthe diamond in the rough) or CJ - altough that will push the budget.

For speakers you could try Omega Loudspeakers. The Super 3R's is within your budget. They are single driver crossoverless loudspeakers that are efficient enough for low powered tube amps. I have the TS1R's matched with an Antique Sound Labs Orchid integrated SET amp and it sounds sweet!

try the GR Research AV-2 speakers (you can see and order them at www.ruthledgeaudiodesign.com ), and you might want to check out a Dodd Audio tubed integrated.

Very nice monitors worth consideration would be Von Schweikert VR-1's.

A new pair can be had easily within your budget. I am a recent convert. Great imaging.
