I'm curious, what does "track-based" mean exactly?

Sorry for not responding earlier, but I didn't see your message until now. Special plastic track is fastened to the wall at the top, bottom, and sides. The purpose of the track is to tightly grip the fabric (Guilford of Maine, typically), and keep it stretched tight so it doesn't wrinkle or sag, especially with changing humidity. This is used a lot in large-scale commercial installations.

SoundWalls uses the patented SnapTex system. It grips fabric really tightly -- their claim is no field failures after 17 years and millions of linear feet installed worldwide.
