ADV just cut the prices for Earth Final Conflict and Andromeda nearly in half. How about Farscape? I want this series, but just can't justify the price. Any chance it will be cut, too?

I was thinking the same thing when i read that news update at tvshowsondvd.com ... One can only hope i guess. It certainly would be nice. I know alot of people that never watched farscape and would get it if not for the current high price.

$90 for season box set isn't too bad.

I imagine demand is higher for Farscape than the "Roddenberry" shows, though.

At those prices I might pick up both Earth and Andromeda.

Problem with Earth is that ADV doesn't own the rights for the first 2 seasons, so they aren't available yet.

I also had the exact same thoughts about Farscape, especially considering one episode of Farscape is worth more than the entire run of both of the other series combined!

I was thinking the same thing, E:FC and Andromeda are a lot more tempting now.

Farscape also has a lot of fingers in the pie, which is why it costs so much more. Sci-Fi Channel, Jim Henson corp., Hallmark Entertainment, and several others. And there is more then just X-Files, Farscape, and Star Trek that retail for around the $100.00 mark for season sets. [IMG]

What other shows produced for American TV run that much? The next most expensive show I can think of is I Love Lucy, which retails for about $70/season.

I thought the reason x-files and trek cost so much besides having a lot of people to pay also had to do with they didn't plan for dvd @ the time. While recent shows on the other hand like farscape should have had dvd worked into peoples contract so they wouldn't have that problem. Or maybe i am completely off base ?

Farscape started just before The X-Files came on on DVD... And even then, there's still a lot of companies listed at the end. While Fox owns, say, Buffy 100%, Farscape is jointly owned by Henson, Hallmark, and (I think) an Australian network, with Universal/Sci-Fi having some interest as well. And ADV probably wants to make some money off it, too.

I wouldn't mind if season box sets came down significantly in price, especially the Star Trek sets. If I could get Smallville for a very reasonable $50, certainly Paramount could look at reducing prices on their ST sets for consumers. $100 a pop is just too darn much.

I've bought most of my Season 1 discs used. You can usually find them for about 6-7 bucks each.

Ends up the same as the boxed set, which can be found ~$86 online.

You get 3 seasons of Earth:TFC for that price. I'll buy it anyways. Lol.

This is cool. While I know I am in the minority here I actually do like Andromeda (I just seem to miss it when its on).

I just preordered Andormeda complete season 1 for $40 at outpost.com, not a bad deal IMHO for a 10disc (24 episode???) box set.

Oh and BB wants $114.99 for this same set, [IMG]

I got my Andromeda box set yesterday and it's very nice. Definitely worth the $40.
