I have a Hsu VTF-2 and it is excellent. As a matter of fact it is a bit overpowering for my system and I have to turn it all the way down. If I turn it up it actually makes all the walls shake and I have to rehang my wife's stuff afterwards.

One other drawback is the size, it is quite large, about 16" square. It is also heavy, understandable considering the sturdiness of the construction.

    ScottMc,

The answer depends somewhat as to the application, what kind of sound you're looking for, size of the room, etc.

Good point Brian! I listen to 70% HT and the rest music. I listen to all kinds, but mainly country and top 40's stuff. My living area can be categorized as small, but this is temporary. It should put out enough to fill a medium to larger room.

I'd expect the VTF-2 to have more output but the Rava should be more accurate. For a small room I'd take the Rava without any reservations. For a larger room it would be a tougher call.

If you are eventually looking to fill a medium to larger size room, the Dharman is a much better choice and will handily outperform the VTF-2 for only $140 more (shipped), and look far better doing it to boot.

The shielding was the deciding factor when I made the same decision. The only place for my sub was near my TV, and the Rava wasn't shielded.

Well, if your TV is more than a foot away, you should have no problems. My RAVA has no probs being 1-1/2 feet away from my Samsung CRT HDTV. Your mileage (or foot-age) may vary!

I've had an SVS 20-39PC slapped up against my Mitsubishi WT-46807 HDTV for over two years now with no issues. Well, convergence is a bitch but hey [IMG]
