Before it is announced on the Adire front page [IMG]

The KIT51 is here! Combine our great AV5 midwoofer, the Audax TM025F1 tweeter, and a small vented box with our own great crossover design and you end up with the KIT51.

    Anyone build one yet?

I'm thinking about building a pair for dorm use with a Pioneer Elite A-35R. I just don't think they'd be too great without a subwoofer but may suffice for casual dorm listening.

I do have Sennheiser 280Pro's for critical listening.

I am interested to know how they compair to the Kit81. I got to hear them at CES and I loved the way they sound.

Think they might make a center channel speaker to match the Kit51's?

Maybe two AV5" drivers, an AV3" driver, and the Audax tweeter?

This could work well as a small HT setup with a Shiva sub.

I know the WAF factor would be much better for me. I'd prefer a complete A/V-3 or LCC and 281 setup, but size seems to be getting in the way.

A midrange isn't needed with the AV5 driver and you don't necessarily need two woofers... why not just turn a Kit51 on its side? (The crossover could be modified, if off-axis response is a concern. Adire did this with the Kit81 to make a center-specific speaker.)

Why is it that 3 way's are so popular in centers but not in main channel speakers?

It's to even out the horizontal off axis response by having the midrange produced from a point source instead of two places separated by several inches (comb filtering...). The off axis response problems aren't so bad with a single woofer except maybe around the crossover point.

I may build a pair of these and run them off of a Pioneer Premier A-35R Integrated Amplifier for use as computer speakers for my college dorm. I understand the low end may be lacking, but I don't exactly have the space for a sub.

every dorm room has the room for a sub its just a matter of how bad you want it [IMG] (says the man with a 9cuft tempest in his closet)

I'm pondering a Kit 51 + sub for my kitchen/dining area. I'm thinking of using the sub in place of the current TV stand in the corner. Could you fit a sub in your dorm room as a dual-use item?

Yeah: TV stand, coffee-table, bed-side table, etc.

Kill two birds with the same cubic footage.

some talk about these 1.5 years ago, and nothing since.
Anyone build a pair? I'm hald considering building a pair to use as mains. Maybe speakers would be a more appropriate forum.

Not sure. I think that the kit 81 and 51 are going to be discontinued. The extremis 6.8 should replace both of them.

Ok, I ordered the kit a month ago and got parts in mid April. They sent me the wrong size terminal cups so I had to order some off eBay last week. The past couple days I put on a few coats of primer sealer and sanded them down yesterday morning. I screwed everything together and listened to them last night with my Atlas 12 sub w/ a Rythmik Audio 250W amp. They sound MUCH better than the small KLH's I have. Im satisfied.

Now that the Adire line is discontinued, I dont know what center channel to get. Or move these as surround and build the Exodus kits for mains and center but much more $$$.
