My entertainment center is in the living room. I would like to make it easier to hear music in the dining room and maybe kitchen when we have guests. This isn't a project I want to make overly complicated or expensive as the current setup works fine 99% of the time.

I have a Denon AVR-S650H receiver and wired speakers. I generally play music through the receiver using the Plex app on my Roku TV which connects to my wireless network and Synology NAS.

I know that Denon supports HEOS wireless speakers. Is that the best option in my situation? My concerns are with the level of difficulty in pairing the wireless speaker with the receiver (I've read that HEOS is finicky) and with any lag in the sound from the wireless speaker which would be very noticeable given the size and floor plan.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

HEOS is obviously your easiest option. The lag issue might not be that big a deal, because if you’re near the wireless speakers and they lag behind the original signal, that would serve to better time-align them with the original. You’d actually get a worse lag being close to remote speakers, because you’d hear them first, followed by the signal from the source.

Beyond HEOS, you’d need a stand-alone wireless system that includes a transmitter connected to the AVR, a remote receiver for said transmitter, which would give a signal to a remote amplifier with hard-wired speakers. Either that or powered speakers. You can find an article on the topic that outlines options in my signature.
