Wasn't sure where to put this because there are speakers, a sub, an amp, and a PC involved. I opted for here because my question is basically about a subwoofer. Please move this if I erred.

I have a PC setup like so:

    2 JBL S38IIs
    1 Harman Kardon PA2000 amp
1 PC with SoundBlaster Audigy 2

    Pics here

I have a 1/8" stereo to RCA splitter similar to this from the sound card speaker out to the PA2000 with interconnects. Then normal speaker wire from the amp to the JBLs.

What I would like to do is throw a powered SVS into the mix, but I'm not sure how I can do that. Do I have to pass the signal from the sound card to the subwoofer and then to the PA2000? Do I even need the PA2000 if I use the amp on the SVS for the JBLs?

    Thanks for the help.

Im not familiar with the H/K PA2000 amp, so does it have a sub pre-out?

I setup a small sub to my PC speakers by using a homemade 1/8" mono to RCA, going from the audio "out" on my sound card into the RCA "in" on my sub. I had to set the crossover becuase it would send a full signal to the sub. Then I used normal PC speakers, connected the the PC speaker port on the back of my computer..

If your amp has some sort of sub out then u could connect the svs like a normal AVR.

I think the pa2000 is just an amp, so no sub out on it. Here is what you do, connect the speaker level outs on the PA2000 to the speaker level ins on the sub, then the speaker level outs on the sub to your JBLs.

I already got a sub! SVS PCi. Can't it drive the JBLs by itself? Soundcard to sub, sub to JBLs. Or, as Tim says, PA2000 to sub to JBLs. I'm kinda chicken to try things out cause I don't want to break anything.

    Shane,

Also, make sure you enable the crossover on the sub before you make those connections.

    Joey,
That's quite a PC set-up you have there!

I can just imagine playing Battlefield 1942 with that sub!

I love playing battlefield 1942 and other games with my pc set up. I have the output from the computer sound card going to my Onkyo TX-SR601 running a pair of polk RTI38's on 31" stands and a SVS 20-39 PC+ placed about 4 feet in the corner of my room. I just can't get enough of the sound of the ships guns being fired and impacting the ground. [IMG][IMG]
