I'll always remember him as Yoshida-san in Rising Sun and the little bitty part he played on Frasier as Niles' literary agent, Sam Tanaka.

RIP, Mako, you were a brilliant character actor.

I would also like to add a heartfelt RIP to a terrific actor.

I loved him as Akiro the Wizard in the Conan series, especially the scene where he meets Conan. He is yelling about the demons he is going to raise; the Governator just cracks up, then so does Akiro.

He was also terrific in the Rainbow Bridge episode of MASH, as the Chinese doctor supervising the exchange of allied wounded for Chinese wounded.

Excellent actor, he will be missed.

Aaargh! Really sad news. A fantastic character actor. Loved him in Sand Pebbles, Killer Elite, Conan, Battlecreek Brawl, many more.

RIP Mako :frowning:

He might not be well known to many people, but I still remembered watching him in a darken movie theater about 40 years ago in a great film called "The Sand Pebbles". I thought he was excellent in that role and IMO, the film also had Steve McQueen's best acting performance. I'm sure some will comment about his roles in the Conan films. May he R.I.P.

Last thing I saw him do was Samurai Jack. He also had a small but important role in Rising Sun.

Just finished up watching the Columbo episode "Murder Under Glass" and Mako was in it. So sad he left us.
