Just wondered if anyone had thoughts about the S108ps. It
has an 8" woofer and 120 watt amp. I am looking at this
as I can get it for 199 can. to replace my passive sub and
    pioneer amp.
Any respones would be appreciated. I have been looking
at sony sw40 but it is about 100 dollars more.

Audiosource SW-15 would be my choice of budget sub. A bit boomy but just do the polyfill mod. most do with the Sony and that will tone it down a bit. You can find them pretty cheap at www.ubid.com. Don't know about the AR but it will definately out do the Sony.

The SW 15" will definitely out do the Sony but you can get the Sony for $165 + shipping. The Sony will out-do the AR 8". If you can spend just a little more or wait just a bit until you can get the 15" or something like it and you will be much more satisfied in the long run. The WM-40 does a great job for the money though. I have ran one in the past. Bottom line, if it is now, go with the WM- IMO. Good luck Sam.
