In reading an earlier post here, I see some people recommending Acoustiblok for sound supression. Sounds great, but I can't find any local dealers of the stuff and it seems quite expensive. Does anyone know of any alternatives?

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Bobby,

Simply adding a second layer of sheetrock costs much less and improves isolation much more than any thin vinyl.

Adding a second layer of sheetrock can actually exasperate your noise abatement problem. Acoustiblok is not a thin vinyl, but a unique, patented sound abatement material Acoustiblok® is a unique 1.1 lb. psf U.L. Classified, high S.T.C. reinforced dense noise isolating material which is utilized as a structural treatment for reducing sound transmission.
