ACK! receiver stopped "listening" to remote (1 Viewer)

I've got about a 9 month old kenwood VR-407 that's I've been using with a universal remote, and for some reason today it stopped working with the original remote and the universal I've been using.
any suggestions? it's SUCH a pain in the ass to walk across the room to adjust the volume or input

unplugged it for 5 minutes and plugged it back in, and it's working fine... very strange.
