In my opinion, a greatly underrated movie. When so many others have been released on DVD, why hasn't this gem? Who owns the rights? Anyone have info on a release?

I'm afraid this one is a Warner title, so who knows when we'll see it...and I agree, a very underrated film.

Accidental Tourist is my #1 alltime favorite movie. I cannot get over the fact that dvd has been around for nearly 5 years and this movie has not been released on dvd yet.
During the last chat with Warner Brothers, I asked about this one ...

The laserdisc was P/S only so that doesn't even help ease the pain while we wait!

The laserdisc was widescreen only, It's just that the image was framed at about 2:00 rather than 2:40.

Good to know...they must have remastered since the day when I only found the P/S version for sale.

Hopefully this will become a very nice 16x9 DVD...

I have never, ever seen a Pan & Scan disc of this film. The letterboxed LD was released within a year of the theatrical release, and I bought it right away.

What is it about Kasdan widescreen releases with the wrong aspect ratio...remember the first Silveraldo DVD?

"AT" was released in 1988. It one Best Picture from the New York Film Critics Circle and was nominated for Best Picture and won Geena Davis an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress and was on many top best picture lists. I would have to say it wasn't that underatted. [IMG]

Yeah, perhaps this was not overlooked by critics and such, but I just looked up its user rating on IMDB and it's only 6.7. Now, I certainly haven't seen a lot of clamoring on this board for this film but boy I've seen petitions and rantings and demands for some real dogs. [IMG]

    Well,
It did really come out P/S cuz that's why I didn't buy if from a friend who had the LD and was willing to sell it to me used.
    hmmm.
    In any case...
any of you want to sell me your WS version...misframed or not?

    David-
The laserdisc did not have a widecreen logo on the front of the sleeve. It was just a small listing on the back. Accidental Tourist was one of the earlier titles that Warner released in widescreen. unless you are talking about an import disc of some kind. Accidental Tourist has never been released on Pan & Scan on laserdisc. That said the Laserdisc transfer looks terrible by todays standards and even when up agianst better LDs, The image was very soft and mushy looking. The disc had titles cards at the beginning and end of each side of the disc [IMG]
