nice to see the singles come around, but most will already have this in the Mummy set. think maybe Uni could do sets of A&C would do better than single releases, but i could be wrong
Yes I would love to see Universal release the 28 Abbott and Costello films they own on blu ray in 4 sets of 7 films each, chronological order. They already have HD masters for all of the films.

A little off topic but maybe you fellas can help. The A&C movie I remember from childhood is Africa Screams. I haven't seen it in almost thirty years so I don't remember a thing about it other than liking it. Is there at least a good DVD out there that I can get?

Its always been a bit of a soft watch regretfully but I would recommend either the 2003 Siren DVD for Black and White, personally I prefer the 2009 Legend issue and if you don't like colour you can turn it off.

Long overdue for a good scan and Blu-Ray release this title although I did read somewhere several years ago it was to make BR.

The copy I have, which is the best I have seen, is by DVD Matters from 1997, issued in the first year of DVD. You pull at the bottom and slide out the disc, I guess they were still experimenting.

It's silver and says...Silver Screen COLLECTORS Edition.

The other copy I have, which is not as good, is by the Roan Group (which used the print from Bob Furmanek). It's a double feature of AFRICA SCREAMS AND JACK AND THE BEANSTALK.

Bob, is there a copy I can purchase that at least properly credits you, or one that you got payment for working on?

Thanks, Josh. I'm sorry but the only authorized release of my restoration (where I was compensated for the work) was the Image Entertainment laser disc release. I produced the set and Video Magazine awarded it "Best Supplemental Disc of the Year."

Apparently, Image later released it as a DVD but I never saw a penny.

I also provided my 35mm element to Legend Films for a colorization release. I have the VHS but don't know if that one got a DVD release as well.

I still have that Laserdisc and the Jack and The Beanstalk Laserdisc which has great supplements that will probably never be released again including the record album version released by Abbott and Costello as an extra audio track.

I'm the one who found and restored this from 35mm nitrate back in the 90's for laser disc release.

I've wanted to revisit this project but sadly, those original elements are no longer available.

Bob, that is sad. By "no longer available" do you mean it doesn't exist due to decomposition or that the current holders of the print won't allow it to be used?

It's been said before but bears repeating: Thank You for all that you have done and continue to do for the cause. It is appreciated.

Interesting reading Bob.

Re Jack and the Beanstalk that's another film that's been thrown around the globe mostly cut. I've clung to my VHS retail tape from many years ago which was the complete film, still a good watch today at around 80 odd minutes.

Africa Screams has great comedy moments in it and nice to revisit both of the discs.
