Just wanted to give folks a heads up that this is finally arriving to the US tomorrow, June 8th.

*Correction: this is in fact the cover of the US release. Any mention of an alternate cover(ie 'black cover') is in reference to the booklet cover.

I love metal and jazz a lot (open minded in music), but i can swear that i heard ABBA in my chilldhood when my mom played the old ''vinyls'' everyday back in the 70's ...so in a strange kind of way i might want to buy buy this stuff.

Thanks for posting this! I had no idea it was coming out.

What is the running time? Could the cover be any worse? [IMG]

Running time is 100 mins, if everything is the same on the US release as on the R2 release (which I believe it is). Specs for the R2 version are in my collection link below.

That's cool, they all can't be like the 3 hour plus opus that is the definite collection DVD. [IMG]

Btw; ABBAfest in Brighton this weekend. I should take a red-eye and do like I did last time I was in Europe: consistantly drink red wine and have a good time.

Gary, have you picked up Agnetha's new CD yet? I love it more each time I listen to it...(so does my mom, an ABBA fan at age 78!)

That'll probably be my next purchase after the DVD tomorrow. But the only version I found was a UK import for 22 cuts. I wonder if Warner is planning on releasing Agnetha's album in the US any time soon or should I take advantage of what I found at Amoeba? I'll likely just get the import. I'm impatient. Good things come in pairs any way. [IMG]

She doesn't look that bad. Plastic surgery perhaps?

The big thing on the horizon is definitely the Mamma Mia premiere in Stockholm. There's a very good chance all of ABBA, meaning Agnetha as well, will reunite for that opening night. Should be quite an event. [IMG]

Nope. It's the other cover (in the Dallas-area, at least).

    Funny thing:

Universal Music Group's press site shows the black cover as the DVD's cover, and that's the image that online retailers would use.

But the sell sheet--also at the press site--shows the blue Polar Music-inspired cover above as the actual cover of the DVD. Steve's post would indicate that the blue cover looks to be the real one.

The black cover is for the booklet inside the case.

I have a video copy (from when it was on Soundstage, back in the 80's) and the R2 release from back in March. Both sound and picture quality are a great improvement over my tape, and I think given the source material, about the best they could have done. There are a few shots (mostly close-ups) that are incredible. The bonus tracks (the re-edited "Thank You For The Music" and "The Way Old Friends Do") are a great addition, although I have seen TWOFD somewhere before. The re-edited TYFTM is so well done that if you didn't know that some of the video footage was lost you probably wouldn't even notice it. Plus, at a $14.98 MSP, it's kind of a no-brainer...there is so little ABBA live footage available, unfortunately.

What a fun song. Thanks, Gary!

I had thought that both Agnetha & Frida weren't singing in English anymore. Will this CD be available on amazon.co.uk?

    You're welcome. [IMG]

Btw that's Agnetha and Bjorn's daughter, Linda, on the right there with the backup singers.

I imagine it might be available at amazon.co.uk since the only copy I've found of her album in the US has a 'made in England' sticker on the back.

Just as an FYI, for those too young to know, Agnetha's is a lovely remake of a wonderful '60s tune popularized by the Searchers and written by Jackie deShannon.

    Randy,

Was the original produced by Phil Spector? B/C this one definitely has a spector-ish sound...

    Gary,
That's funny, cuz I was wondering about that.

    Rafael.
