Anchor Bay had a chat at Dread Central, where they revealed several new releases they're working on. All the news can be found here:

Talk about extremely outstanding news! Dellamorte Dellamore is the best zombie film ever made as far as I'm concerned, not to mention one of my top 10 favorite films, period. I have the Medusa DVD, and the picture quality is pretty much flawless. I always said I would only buy a R1 release if it were the special edition the film deserves to have, and seeing how AB says it will be a SE, its a must-have for me. I also have a R2 disc of another favorite, The Entity, which also has a stellar transfer. Hopefully it'll be an all out SE too. I definitely want the other titles as well. Such wonderful news all around. Anchor Bay's new deal with Fox is truly turning out to be one of the best developments in the history of these two companies!

This is really good news for zombie fans! Dellamorte Dellamore (or Cemetary Man, as it is sometimes known) may be the last major modern zombie film that was unreleased in Region 1. Anchor Bay looked pretty bad in terms of its future projects last year, but the Fox deal has really revitalized it. I only wish other companies would follow Fox's lead in licensing out smaller films and TV shows, particularly Warner Bros.

I was disappointed that the commentary on the Medusa DVD of Dellamorte Dellamore didn't have English subtitle options or anything. Perhaps AB will port it over and give it such. Either way, I hope AB is able to record a new commentary as well.

I heard Barbara Hershey doesn't want to have anything to do with The Enity anymore. That's a shame. Hopefully others involved, including the film's director, will participate in the DVD.

As for companies leasing out smaller titles, I'd like to see Paramount, Universal, or lame Columbia lease out some of my faves from their catalogues. WB has been doing really good I think, though an uncut The Devils would be excellence.

RABID DOGS is the one film that makes everything else AB's released look bad. A terrific film that sadly hasn't been viewed by as many as other Bava films. Thankfully the producer's is allowing the original cut to be released since I've heard bad things about the re-edited KIDNAPPED.

Image canceled a cheap box set of all their Bava films so I guess this is why. I'd rather get their set, six films for around $30 but I certainly wouldn't mind AB doing a 2-disc SE of TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE. It certainly deserves it since many would consider this one of the most important horror films in history.

I'm still somewhat worried about DELLAMORTE though. Did Fox release the uncut "Dellamorte" version or the cut "Cemetary Man" version? Hopefully Fox owns the rights to both versions. Several of these foreign titles that are owned by the majors are usually cut versions.

I was wondering when new versions of HALLOWEEN(s) and EVIL DEAD were going to show up. I really don't mind them re-re-re-releasing the big guys since that brings in enough cash to do other projects.

And it concerned me a bit that the Fangoria news item had the AB release titled "Cemetary Man".

Happy to see a date for Cemetary Man. I think the Season Of The Witch and There's Always Vanilla are the last feature length Romero movies to hit DVD which is definitely cool.

And in all fairness, Evil Dead II has only been released once (since the tin had the same disc as the regular release).

EDIT: The date Fangoria gives for Season Of The Witch/There's Always Vanilla isn't a Tuesday. Hmmm.

I'm a bit concerned about Halloween 4 and 5 receiving the Divimax treatment. After shelling out $40-$60 CAD each for the "Limited Edition" tin boxes for H4 and H5, AB's decided to re-re-release the movies again?

That's not necessarily a bad thing since I do like both movies (and the press release mentioned more new supplement), but after the fiasco with the Divimax release of the first Halloween where the colours were said to be inaccurate, I don't know if I should hold onto these tin editions or not. I could get something modest for them now since they are limited editions and OOP, but if something similar happens with Divimax Halloween 4 and 5 I would rather hold onto my tin sets.

Any thoughts?

I never bought any of the tins because I'm not much of a collector of those types of things. I certainly won't be upgrading H4 or H5 unless they're some sort of director's cuts. The quality of the first releases are great and the audio track to part 4 is still one of the best I've heard.

Re: Cemetary Man

Perhaps the title is the only thing that's changed. The R2 discs have always promoted "uncut" so I just guessed the American version was shorter. The U.S. version got an "R" rating, which is a shock considering how gory/sexual the film is.

As far as I've been able to tell, both versions of Dellamorte Dellamore are the same. If there were any cuts, they must be extremely minor.

Great news regarding Halloween 4 and 5 getting the Divimax treatment. I've got the Limited Edition Tins of both films (and will be keeping them) but I'm still going to pick up these new Divimax releases. Here's hoping to a commentary track with Dwight H. Little, Ellie Cornell, and Danielle Harris on 4 and Dominique Othenin-Girard, Ellie Cornell, and Danielle Harris on 5.
