I enjoyed the chat on tues night, but I noticed alot of people were having the same problem as me, lots of lags and numerous disconnections. I was just wondering about the server you guys use for this. Looking at the registration info am I correct in assuming that the box is in teh netherlands? or is that just a shell? The other question was what kinda connect is the box on and is the nix box running some ircd software or is it just some random windoze box running some crappy windows irc server client.

The name of the chat server is shadowfire.org. They are undergoing server changes and such. So the chats for now that are pointed to caladan.shadowfire.org are getting shifted to chichane.shadowfire.org. This should be changing in the next few weeks back to caladan.shadowfire.org.
If you get into the chat via the web page it is a javascript module that is dowloaded from shadowfire.org to you computer to connect to their site. No Windows involved with this that I know of.
THE best way to get into the chats is to use an IRC program like mIRC or Pirch. I have never gotten disconnected or had any trouble with accessing the chat using mIRC. The web side access was set up more as a convience to all those members that do not have or want to download one of these IRC programs. As with anything that goes across the net connection loses, etc. apply here too.

thanx for the info. I did connect using mirc, its just that I idle for days on efnet and galaxynet in high volume chans and I dont get disconnected as much as I did in the AB chat. I was just curious what the setup was.
