ok, so DirecTV goes out due to a large storm tonight in DFW and I miss the last 15 minutes of this movie. Not a great flick, but I was still watching, and now don't know what happens! Checking Tivo I see it isn't playing again soon, so I thought I'd see if anyone remembers the ending.

The dish went out right after the son is stung by the wasps and the conversation starts between Pearl and her husband, just after Walker leaves...

She goes to Walker's house and tells him she can't go out West with him. Father and daughter have a heart to heart re: her conception. He tells her it was the most important day in his life. Pearl & her husband make peace and realize their life means too much to them to destroy. As the film ends we watch them dancing to Purple Haze, meaning of couse, he's getting his groove on and will no longer be a terminal dork unworthy of Diane Lane.

Thanks Jim. I must say that is the ending I expected to see, and would have been let down with that. The ending I would have written:


She chooses the dress salesman and they go off West, the husband is left to figure out his life (which he started to experience at his house with the record/dance), and the kids remain with the Mom and her new lover.
