If a Borg Cube was to pick a fight with a Star Destroyer, which one would be victorious and why?

While we are at it, Yoda decides to open up a can of whoopass on Galdalf. Does Yoda need to pick on someone his own size?

Borg Cube vs. Imperial Star Destroyer - winner: Borg Cube. They're just too unstoppable. Then again, it depends on what class of Imperial Star Destroyer is going up against the Borg: standard, Executor class, or that meshugah from the "Dark Empire" comics. IMHO, the larger the Star Destroyer, the more they're going to defeat a Borg Cube. But with just a regular Star Destroyer, I'd have to give it to the Borg. They'd do their scans of the Star Destroyer, download that information into their memory banks, and just start kicking Imperial ass all over the place.

Yoda vs. Gandalf: Depends on which version of Gandalf is fighting Yoda. If it's Gandalf the Grey, then Yoda might win. But if it's Gandalf the White, there's no contest. It would wind up a draw, hands down.

Well, it clearly depends on who is on the Star Destroyer. Under normal circumstances, the cube assimilates it. If Vader is on board, though, or they have a captive Jedi who can be convinced that the Empire is the lesser of two evils, a single Jedi Mind Trick sets the entire Borg cube's group mind (and, mayhap, the entire collective) onto a new course.

And Yoda cuts Gandalf in half. Gandalf is a skilled fighter, true, but doesn't seem to have any superhuman abilities that would be useful in close-up combat with a single opponent.

What's the difference besides wardrobe? That was something that bugged me about The Two Towers; everyone gasped in awe at "Gandalf...the White!", but there wasn't any indication of what made him so much more badass now.

The deal with Gandalf the Grey was that while he performed the occasional special FX, he didn't mind his unkempt appearance with the shaggy gray hair and beard, he didn't mind smoking a pipe and being a bit of a character.

Gandalf the White, on the other hand, was much more ultra serious in his appearance and attire. Gandalf the White kicked ass and didn't take names.

    Star Destroyer and Yoda.

Bill Williams, don't you mean he kicked ass and took names? I've never heard it as didn't take names before.

Well, if you look at how Gandalf kicked ass all over the place at the Battle of Helm's Deep, he wasn't too concerned with taking names to begin with. He just went in with Eomer's (sp?) men and kicked ass, and that be all he wrote. [IMG]
