Looks like the European and Australian editions of A VERY MERRY MUPPET CHRISTMAS are widescreen enhanced, as opposed to the US Pan and Scan version (it was broadcast in the US in HiDef in a 16x9 configuration, but this is not the version that MGM is releasing). I don't know how the special features compare, but I've placed my order.

Are the those 16x9 versions both PAL?

Yes.

CD Japan lists the Japanese release as being 16:9 and it's NTSC.
