I searched the website to see if this was covered previously, but I found nothing. I noticed throughout the movie when Tom Hank's character is on the run, all of the room that they stay in are dark and grungy rooms. However, the room Tom dies in is white.

Has there been any explanation as to why this is? Is it some sort of purity in death feel? I was just curious if anybody else noticed this.

I believe Sam Mendes discusses this on the director's commentary of the DVD, if you have it. My interpretation (and his) seem to be basically the same as yours.

By the way, I absolutely cannot get enough of this movie.

Agreed. This movie has some of the best cinematography I have ever seen! Thanks for the reply.
