a request for people when they write their thread titles (1 Viewer)

very often i come across a title of a thread that looks something like this...

"an american werewolf in london"
then the thread will say
"hey i heard this was coming to dvd. anyone hear anything?"
or
"i heard this was a good movie, should i buy it"
or
"Saw this wild French film several months ago. Horror, outrageous action, political intrigue, this movie has it all. Anyway, in Europe they've already released this one as a beautiful 3 disc DVD with TONS of extras. I can only hope that they will put out a similarly beautiful DVD set in North America. Has anyone heard of a possible release date?"

or

"The Ninth Configuration is available on a region 2 DVD. Is there any word if there will be a Region one release coming soon?"


in other words only movie titles in the header.


i ask if everyone could atleast put something in regards to what info they are looking for when they start a post about a specific movie.

when i see a thread about a movie and click on it i am always hoping some informative about the movie will be there. and sometimes it is. but when i click on one of those that just says "when is ______ coming to dvd." it's more annoying then not.

if you want to know when ______ is coming then the thread could be "does anyone know when ______ is coming to dvd?"
instead of just the title of the movie.

maybe it's just me but i wanted to get it off my chest.

i hope someone sees it over in this forum.

You know you can move your cursor over the title and see the first few lines of the posting without having to open the topic.

Since I we've gotten that option (Thanks, Parker); I don't have an issue any more with misleading headers. YMMV

thats true i always forget about that.

but i dont think the header with just a movie title is misleading just not enough information about the actual topic in the thread.

it just bug's me to see a topic like "the ninth configuration" then to hope to see something like "this is finally announced and will be out in sept with all the following great features..."

but only see.

i saw this 10 years ago is it on dvd yet?

o well just a pet peeve of mine no big deal.

Wouldn't it be lovely if instead of seeing the first few lines appearing when you point your cursor over it you can see the entire first page of the thread, would save us the extra effort of actually clicking on the thread...

Steve...somebody asked Parker if he could do that awhile ago. The bottom line (as I recall) is that it took too much memory or caused loading to be too slow so he cut it back.

thats correct. this WILL use up a lot of BANDWITH when you Whole Page Pop-ups (or Alt Tags) are utilized.!

I agree that people should be more specific when creating thread titles. After all, the idea behind starting a thread is to communicate with other members. Title a thread properly and they will come...
BTW, Tony, The Ninth Configuration IS coming out in September in case you missed the thread in Software. About darn time, no?
