I'm wondering. Who has the record for the thread posting that has the MOST views WITHOUT anyone posting a reply.

I figure there might be another level to the "thread killer" phenomenon.

Person #1. A person that posts to a long running thread immediately bringing the discussion to a halt.

Person #2: A person that posts a thread and NO ONE ever posts a response with thousands and thousands of VIEWS ONLY of the thread. NO ONE EVER (NEVER NEVER) posts a response to that poor soul. They hang out there ALWAYS waiting for a someone to post a response. They sit hopeful WATCHING the post VIEW NUMBER increase but NEVER get anyone to answer.

I think these individuals might exist.

I WONDER WHO they might be? ME? ME POSSIBLY? or you?

    Hmmmmm....

Anyway, that is my challenge to the wonderful folks here at the HTF, who might these people be?

So, CONSIDER YOUR RESPONSE TO MY QUESTION CAREFULLY. Think long and hard, ponder for a LONG time, formulate a response very carefully before you decide at some far future time to respond. [IMG]

    Dr. Joe

P.S. I think I'll nickname this post the "DON't touch that RED BUTTON" thread.

    DagNabit!!

Ok, experiment over. It appears that the answer is...

    "0" for "652"

That was the last count with no replies before someone
who will remain nameless ( oh, wait... his name is above!)
pushed the red button, touched the wet paint, wrote initials in the cement, spray painted the wall, grabbed the last cookie.

    Dr. Joe

P.S. Look for more experiments later.

I actually ran a search yesterday for one of my sterile threads... until the real purpose of this thread hit me.

    Eh...

It would have been nice to make it sticky.

Hmm, I think the original thread before Jack accidently nuked it (warmonger! hiss! Pfft!) had a higher view count. I think it was at 654 the last time I saw it.

    I propose altering the experiment:

Most views with the least posts. As the thread starts to sink toward the second page, keep viewing it. Then somebody post to it just as it looks like it will roll over to the second page.

I'd like to see if it's possible to have, oh, 30 posts to thousands and thousands of views.

One thing's for certain: This thread wouldn't hog our bandwidth!

How about another rule in that bump thread: Each member can only bump ONCE. You can never doing it again till the thread dies...

About a "bump" once rule in the bump game.

I thought of that, but I think we might hold off a bit to see how many of us are going to play.

At some future time, I think we could give that a try as well.

    Seem fair?

    Very well, then:

Your other thread is the official experiment, and it should prove interesting. Meanwhile, this thread can be sort of a commentary area about that other thread. (Even "Thread Killer" seems to have come back to life, I noticed. We could talk about that one too.)

Meanwhile, I've always wanted to take a poll at HTF: How many HTF members have some sort of access to the Internet?

Fine, I'll pay you Turelians the ransom you seek. Just return Dr. Howard please. Have Venwerwelan 17evacuate his body immediately. He is obviously not quite getting the swing of things here, and he seems a bit bored. Meet tonight at the secret location......I've got the Twinkies, more than your craft can carry. Lets do this.....and quick! [IMG]

How do I know if I have access to the Internet?

I have a lot of dirty pictures (mudslide) on my hard drive. Does that count?
