What does Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) do for the end user? Can this cause automatic disconnections from the net at a predetermined time?
I just want to know if this is what's causing me to be kicked out of the net after 30 minutes online. This is driving me nuts!!! [IMG] HELP!!!

CHAP is an authentication method. You're probably most familiar with it via Windows Dial Up Networking. Before CHAP (and PAP), a terminal window would pop up and you'd have to type in your login information (or create a script that would do this for you).

It could be setup to force a disconnect if desired. Is this your ISP? I'd give them a call.
