So, I was thrilled to see this being released in France, so thrilled that my brain must have shut down, as I could have sworn I saw that it was in English or at least had English subtitles. It is in German and French with only French subtitles and therefore, for me, a complete waste of time and money. That said, after you get past the German titles, which aren't in great condition, the image is really pretty great - deep blacks, sharp, and very lovely looking black-and-white. I know it's not great Lang but I've always been fond of it and I'm only sorry there's no English dub or subs.

I would love to have this film on Blu-ray with an English dub. I know it's not Lang's best film, but I love it just the same. There's lots of images and themes from Lang's other films that are here, for instance, the assassination scene with the cars stopped at a traffic light shot from above, which was originally in SPIES, and then turned up a few years later in THE IPCRESS FILE. And the scene where you think you're watching a scene in a hotel room and the camera zooms out to reveal that you're watching a scene on a television monitor has been re-used lots of times, In Godard's ALPHAVILLE and also in DePalma's THE FURY. I once owned a 16mm print of this, and I watched it lots of times, to the point that maybe I could make do with watching it in German, and know more or less what was going on, though it's been 40 years since I last saw it. Anyway, thanks Bruce for letting us know about this.
