Sony seems to be taking an interesting view of catalog titles. Hence, Passage To India before Kwai, LOA. Other examples include Life Of Brian before Holy Grail and Hollow Man before Starship Troopers.
I was really surprised they didn't release Dr. Strangelove when Warner did their Kubrick releases. It seemed like a no-brainer to me, since they could've helped the BD format by making one of the Kubrick films BD-exclusive.
Actually, I thought this was pretty standard operating procedure for a fledgling format (i.e. releasing 'lower tier' titles while there is less to selection leads to higher sales for said titles).
