Hello, So I am Putting in a Home Theater System and am frustrated with choosing a receiver. I have picked out a few but I would like some expert advice on what is the best to go with. I want a good receiver but at the same time dont want to spend a lot of money. Let me give you an idea of what I am planning on putting in:
Projector
-Panasonic PT--Ax200u

Speakers
-JBL HTI6 2-Way 6-1/2" 100 Watts, In-Wall Speaker (Front R&l)
-JBL HTI55 2-Way Dual 5" 120 Watts, In-Wall (Center)
as for my surround speakers I have not decided on in-ceiling or satellite speakers, some advice would be appreciated.

I am still working on a sub as well

The receivers I have looked at are:

Yamaha HTR-6130BL
Yamaha HTR-6140BL
Sony STR-DG910
Sony STR-DG720
Harmon Kardon AVR-154
Onkyo TX-SR506B
Onkyo TX-SR576B

I will be having Blu-Ray so I will need a receiver which I can pass video/audio through hdmi

Thanks.

Since you're going to have blu ray, I'd step up one more notch on the Onkyo, to the TX-SR606. It can handle the HD audio formats on the blu ray, and the TX-SR576 cannot.

With Yamaha, you'll need to step up to the HTR-6160, in the HTR line of receivers, to get the ability to handle the HD audio formats. Or you can get the RX-V663 Yamaha, that does this. Amazon.com usually has good prices on the Onkyos and Yamahas.

I'd stay away from the Sony receivers, unless you get into the ES line, and they're going to be a good bit more money. For newer features, and great bang for the buck, Onkyo and Yamaha are the way to go, right now.

I, personally, have never been a big fan of in-wall speakers. I think a lot of people use them for the WAF (wife acceptance factor). I'm lucky I guess, in that my wife doesn't mind visible speakers in the room. If they'll fit in the budget, these are very good speakers, along with an outstanding subwoofer: SVSound - Complete Systems

For a blu ray player, people are loving the PS3. Along with having excellent blu ray picture, it can download firmware when it comes out, it can stream music from online radio stations, does a very good job up converting regular dvds, and plays games too. It does so much more than a stand alone player, for about the same money, in a lot of cases. People are also liking the BDP-S350 stand alone blu ray player from Sony.
Good luck with whatever you get.

If you haven't pulled the trigger yet, you may also want to consider the Pioneer VSX-1018AH-K.
