Yeah that would be cool though I cant say too much for the design of having the gas tank in front of you and between your legs. The guys smoking the cigarette next to the guy filling the gas tank was also especially nice.

Shifter karts. Those thing are pretty bad-ass. They weigh next to nothing and put down serious power. Nothing like flying down the track at 100mph with your ass 3" off the ground.

I've also heard those things beat you up though. No suspension to speak of, and they corner amazingly. End result is your body gets punished when you drive 'em.

You can buy one, they are like 4 or 6k I think. Little kids race them in the midwest and other places, here is a site for Georga Carts I found in a search. Plenty of current NASCAR and CART drivers started out on them. Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon are 2 NASCAR guys I can think of off the top of my head.

That kart is FAR from your regular shifter cart, as most of them have 125-250cc engines. This thing looks like a big inline 4 from a motorcycle!! Just plain friggin insane! I have always wondered how a snowmobile engine would fair in a go-kart, and I think it might even be faster than this kart as it would weigh less and have more power, without needing to shift. Man, the possibilities.

looks like a gixxer 1100 engine... hence the gixxerkart name and the 1100 cm^3 at the beginning [IMG]

those engines can make some serious power.

If that is a GSXR 1100 motor on that thing, that's around 130 hp hurtling under 500 lbs. (driver included) around the track. Talk about a suicide sled... I've gotta have one. [IMG]

I have seen turbo setups for the R1 engines, and even the new RX-1 Yamaha sled has a turbo for it's version of the R-1 engine. Can you say 270hp, ya, that would be death on 4 wheels with that go-kart....I love it [IMG]
