Douglas Sirk fans take note.
Criterion adds another stunning Sirk production to their catalog via Universal.
That special Sirk period at Universal (six or seven films, depending upon how you consider them) seems to begin in 1953 with All I Desire, and ends six years later in 1959 with the re-make of Fanny Hurst's Imitation of Life.
Three of the same leads, Hudson, Stack and Malone, would re-appear, presumably by popular demand in the 1957 The Tarnished Angels, also available via Kino.
Except for dupes, it looks terrific, with superb color, nice grain, good blacks and a decently stable image.
Image – 4.25
Audio – 5
Pass / Fail – Pass
Upgrade from DVD - Yes
Up-rez to 4k - Works nicely
Highly Recommended
