I take it you’re n

You've been going at Paramount pretty hard. Well, it seems like they have circled the wagons regarding grain management too. I could be wrong, but it appears you won't be invited to lunch any time soon on Melrose Ave.

I believe I've been extremely fair to them. Open, even-tempered, a man you'd never hear complain.

Doesn't really matter when the Imprint has visible registration errors and separation dirt.

The registration errors on the Imprint disc occur on the front end of dissolves. The color looks quite nice in some scenes.

CAVEATS!--- Both Paramount and Imprint discs ripped with MakeMKV to my hard drive. Snapshots taken with PowerDVD 22 playing on my computer monitor.

To my eyes the Paramount is over-all more pleasing while in motion. But the Imprint has some worthy special features including a commentary by Barry Forshaw and Kim Newman.

Agreed. I wanted to get some confirmation as to the color on original 1953 prints, and am happy with what Criterion has given us. Not only per colo, but overall resolution. It’s a superior disc to the new 4k.
Latest explanation as per The Digital Bits:

[Editor’s Update 9/29/22: Interestingly, I found this comment on Facebook from former ILM animator, VFX supervisor and film producer Peter Kuran, responding to Paramount’s statement: “The reason it would be blue would be theatrical IB tech prints are balanced for a carbon arc light source which is very yellow. Better to use a 16mm IB Tech print which is balanced for 3200-3500 more normal.” That seems a reasonable conclusion to me. –BH]

FWIW: Snapshots using PowerDVD 22 on computer monitor---

The Criterion image is missing a sliver of information on the right side compared to the other three. :excl:
