This 1950 Paramount noir will be found in Kino's Noir collection XXIV. It was originally released by Olive back in 2014. Presumably it's from the same master, which is quite good.
For those who may have been considering the Kino noir sets as filled with B films, this ain't one of those. It's a terrific little studio production that grabs you with the opening scenes (along with some pretty awful back ground plates), and keeps on going throughout its short 81 minute running time.
Great cast, with William Holden coming off his major hit about the aging actress living in the creepy house in LA, with the over-protective driver. He's joined here by Nancy Olson, who was also strangely in that other film, and Barry Fitzgerald.
Directed by Rudolph Mate´, who moved from cinematography to directing about this time. This film was shot by Daniel Fapp, who also knew his way around cameras, 35mm and otherwise.
Presumably derived from a FGM, the film looks terrific, with nary a problem is sight.
My recommendation is to grab a copy of the Kino's noir collection just for this one. Consider that you're receiving Jennifer and The Crooked Circle gratis.
Shot primarily in Los Angeles, with this particular Union Station being the one if downtown LA, as opposed to others - DC and CHI come to mind. I know them all well.
