Twilight is a wonderfully entertaining thriller from director Robert Benton, with a terrific cast.
It's the second of Kino's Paul Newman offerings this month. Also along for the whodunit are Susan Sarandon, Gene Hacks, Stockard Channing, Liev Schreiber, Reese Witherspoon and James Garner.
Kino's new Blu-ray via Paramount, appears derived from an IP, and doesn't look like anything new. It's perfectly serviceable from a nominal seating distance, but get too close and you may note a slightly electronic appearance. Nothing deal-breaking, just not up to current standards.
As to numbers, Mr. Newman's 54th film, if one discounts those in which he did not appear on screen. Let's keep them coming.
Photographed by Piotr Sobocinski, whose Three Colors has been announced via Criterion.
Image – 3.5
Audio – 5 (DTS-HD MA 5.1)
Pass / Fail – Pass
Upgrade from earlier DVD – Yes
Works up-rezzed to 4k - Yes
