Before Western B star Tom Tyler played Captain Marvel and The Phantom, he was silent actor, mostly known for B westerns, and later served the same role in sound films.

Ben Model's Undercrank Productions has just released two of his 1929 silents, both very late for the silent era. He appeared first in 1924, and worked into the early 1950s.

Both are a tiny bit rough around the edges, but I'm happy to have silents any way I can get them, and these are no exception.

New scores by Mr. Model fit both films perfectly, and are what might have been heard in 1929 in your local cinema.

Tom Tyler played one of the gunfighters whom John Wayne shoots at the climax of "Stagecoach" (1939). The following year, he played the title role in "The Mummy's Hand".

He also played a trooper in She Wore A Yellow Ribbon. Guess John Ford appreciated his talents.
