One of the telling credits for Robert Siodmak's The Strange Affair of Uncle Harry, is that of Joan Harrison as producer, who along with the director, had recently created the wonderful Phantom Lady.
One might wonder what the film might have been had it not been saddled with pleasing the Hays Office.
As it stands, this is an interesting film, that stands prominently within its time. I don't believe one can discuss standing the test of it, as it never really had a chance.
The Blu-ray is a generally pleasing black & white affair, with a decent image, aside from the almost constant sparkle -- more than one might wish to see. This is the kind of "age-related damage" that would be cleaned up in Warner Archive BD releases.
Strangely, the sparkle on Uncle Harry doesn't disturb me greatly, as it creates the appearance of a newish 35mm print struck from a well-loved original element.
