Shot in Texas, The Outing, directed by Tom Daley is the top half of a Scream Factory double bill. Alternately known as The Lamp (there's a genie involved), and he makes an unwanted appearance.
It's another group of teens getting themselves into situations, this time at night in a museum.
The film has the appearance of being blown up from 16, but I can't say that for certain. There are occasionally problematic shots, which wobble around the screen a bit.
Oh, and for some reason the titles appear out of focus. Purposeful? I have no idea.
The film is paired with The Godsend (1980), directed by Gabrielle Beaumont.
The film seems in some ways to be an inexpensive knockoff of a cross between The Omen and Rosemary's Baby - two films of larger budgets. It's one of those Cannon Films, which should tell you a lot.
Technically, on Blu-ray, it's head and shoulders above The Outing.
I don't want to sound as though I'm giving these films short shrift, as there is, and always has been a healthy audience for them, and Scream Factory has priced them right. As a double-bill, they work out to under $9 each.
