Lionsgate's new 4k Blu-ray of The Hurricane Heist, has a terrific, pounding Dolby Atmos track, that's beautifully mixed.

Photographed with an Arri Alexa 65, allows for a nicely rendered 4k disc.

Bring an extra dose of suspension of disbelief with you, and some may enjoy the chase.

Technically, a delightful release.

Lest anyone care, the liner notes tell us that it's about "criminals [who] infiltrate a U.S. Mint facility."

It isn't.

The Mint produces coins.

The Bureau of Printing & Engraving handles currency.

The film is about criminals infiltrating a Treasury Dept facility that shreds problematic paper money.

Audio - 5 (Dolby Atmos)

Pass / Fail - Pass

I was curious about this film so I went to look it up. This was the Rotten Tomatoes summary:

Under the threat of a hurricane, opportunistic criminals infiltrate a US Mint facility to steal $600 million for the ultimate heist. When the hurricane blows up into a lethal CATEGORY 5 storm and their well-made plans go awry, they find themselves needing a vault code known only by one Treasury Agent (Maggie Grace), a need that turns murderous. But the Treasury agent has picked up an unlikely ally, a meteorologist (Toby Kebbell) terrified of hurricanes but determined to save his estranged brother kidnapped by the thieves. He uses his knowledge of the storm as a weapon to win in this non-stop action thriller ride charged with adrenaline throughout.

I guess Hollywood's plunge into realism, typified by Sharknado and others, is over.

Sharknado was a quality film.

I thought this film looked like it would be fun (I love natural disaster-type films), and was disappointed at the grosses and reviews. But I'll definitely pick this up on disc.

Amazon now selling the 4K/UHD release for $19.99!
I think Amazon screwed up the MSRP as it shouldn't be $29.99 for a 4K/UHD release of a 2018 film. It should be $42.99 like Hostiles was when it came out on 4K/UHD. That $29.99 MSRP is usually for a DVD release.

Amazon will correct this shortly so take advantage while you can do so.
