Sam Raimi's The Gift, a film with a quarter of a century of bottle age has been released by Scream Factory via Paramount.
It's a good film, with a quality cast, which when I saw it upon release had me thinking of the steamy southern aura of Body Heat. Only this one is a totally different story, and with a bit less sweat.
Or am I confusing them with Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil?
For those who desire to know the cast - Cate Blanchett, Giovanni Ribisi, Keanu Reeves, Greg Kinnear and Hilary Swank.
It all works.
Like many other titles, I'll not hit on story.
The 4k UHD release is a quality affair short of the opening logos and credits, which are quite out of focus. And that leads me to believe that Mr. Raimi may have been having some sort of contractual disagreement with someone.
As no one just puts a film's opening out of focus.
Must be intentional.
Other than that nicety, everything seems fine here, with pleasant grain, great color and terrific sound.
