Kino's release of Lewis Gilbert's The 7th Dawn has been a long time coming.
In the history of home video, there has never been a quality release until today - at least domestically.
We're finally seeing Freddie Young's beautiful camera work with requisite quality. Not perfect, mind you, as this appears to be derived from an IP, but very nice.
And interestingly, in 1.66, which looks just fine.
Colors, densities, grain structure all fall within limits, while black level seem just a tad heavy at times, but no matter, the imagery is wonderful.
For those unaware, the film features William Holden, Susanah York and Capucine

Pass / Fail – Pass
Upgrade from DVD - Absolutely, and about bloody time!
